Based on experience what I learned is that preparation is everything.
- Know your music.
- Provide BPM, Lyrics and Key Signature in advance to the recording session. Please note if you are not layering recording this may not be necessary. This is important if you want to add other recordings of vocals and instruments.
- Warm up your voice.
- Tune your instruments and ensure they are in good shape. While tuning guitars are not a problem, make sure they are in good shape. Drums need to be tuned prior to recording. Good sounding instruments makes for a good sounding mix. Mixing cannot fix bad instruments and vocals.
- If you have good ear buds or headphones you like, bring them.
- Relax and enjoy. It’s important for you to know you need to have fun and be passionate. Give God your best. Be prayed up. Please remind me to pray before we get started.
- Be teachable. If a person is teachable then that person is also humble. Remember God has high regards to those who are humble and it is my desire for God to bless your work.
